Lab Notebook
The notebook sits in the same workbench as the constructs, so an entry can name the plasmid it was run on and that name is a link. Entries are markdown, images paste in, and everything stays on this machine.
Four real constructs and a seeded experiment: markdown with @construct / &gel / !action cross-references that actually resolve to more than one thing
What it does
- 01Experiments created, duplicated, deleted, searched and filtered by tag
- 02Experiments grouped into collections
- 03A markdown body with edit, preview and split views, plus formatting and insert helpers
- 04Images pasted into an entry, stored outside the body
- 05Cross-references written as sigils: a construct reference opens that project, a gel reference opens the gel bench
- 06Jump to the reference under the caret from the keyboard
- 07Each experiment exported as a portable markdown document
What it runs on
Reference extraction and the notebook model run on the golden-validated `@ports/notebook` engine. Every entry is your own content, and references resolve against the real project list. The panel runs on @ports/notebook.
Everything runs client-side. Files are parsed in the browser and projects are saved on this machine, so an unpublished sequence is never uploaded.
Questions
- Where are entries stored?
- On this machine, with the project. There is no account and no server copy, which is the same rule the rest of the workbench follows.
- What does a cross-reference do?
- It resolves against the real project list: a construct reference opens that project, and a gel reference opens the gel bench. A reference to something that does not exist is shown as unresolved rather than silently rendered as text.
- Can I get my notes out?
- Yes. Each experiment exports as a markdown document, readable without this application.
